Is there a “best” language?

In regards to web design and programming, is there really a best language? Is there really only one language? This among others is questions I’ve been pondering questioning what I want to do with the rest of my life. I’ve thus far dabbled with many things computer/internet/web and I’m pretty sure I love web design and not the graphics side but the programming and layout side. I’ve been researching what I want to learn first. I really think I’m leaning towards ROR (or Ruby On Rails).

Ruby On Rails is supposed to be hte “FUN” way to program and while taht very well may be true, you still have to know logic with programming and that is always hard to do and not always anyways FUN. I like the idea of an open source language but that opens up multiple versions and add-ons all over hte place and can lead to confusion for the beginner.

You also must consider jobs available and Who is using these languages as well. There are certainly many jobs out there for Microsoft’s line of programming but that is just expensive to keep up with the tools and books etc..

I don’t know I guess I’m just babbling now but I think the answer to this question simply is NO. It is really a personal choice and there is major pros and cons to whichever language you use.

till next time,

Jonathan

Who is The Goodpasture Group?

The Goodpasture Group is a multi-facet partnership structured business with communication hubs for all our many businesses both on and off the internet. We are Jonathan and Katie Goodpasture and have been on the web for more than 10 years now.

I have worked with many business ventures on the web including (but not limited to) selling on eBay, learning the in’s and out’s of the domain name business including registerdropped.com, froggydomains.com and several more. I am currently working on learning custom programming using ROR (The greatest framework and language out there folks!). I am wanting to program for a living full time as my goal. I hope to continue in the direction of learning more about the domain aftermarket arena as well. Well that’s me in a nutshell.

My wife, Katie, works full time however as a transcriptionist, editor, and awesome mother. She operates under this umbrella as well.

Our current flagship product is a website called Froggy Domains at http://www.froggydomains.com which offers cheap domain name registration and expired domain information and so much more. Froggy Domains is now branching out with free offerings of other domain related websites including domainforum.ws and domainlinks.ws for starters. There is many plans for these branch to come. Please check out the specific topics on these individual companies for more information.

Another big venture is a series of free wild and domestic animal vertical portals called SomethingAbout… including http://www.somethingaboutcats.com, http://www.somethingaboutdogs.com, http://www.somethingaboutfish.com, http://www.something aboutreptiles.com, and many more. I have created a central website for these portals at http://www.myanimalforums.com if you want to check them out today!

thanks for visiting. I’ll add more later. Jonathan
